19 Feb Good Turkey Chili
I don’t know about you, but I’m a homebody. I love snuggling up on the couch, watching my favorite shows, and eating a good bowl of chili. I mean it’s nothing like a chill day with some comfort food.
Growing up chili was not my favorite dish because I hated those huge kidney beans. I love making dishes that I didn’t really care for growing up, because now I make them according to what I like..(kinda like this, minimal beans).
Anyway today my littles wanted chili, Braylen seems to love anything with ground turkey or beef (he’s my picky eater). So, here I am making chili and sharing the tea on how I make my chili with you. This was my first time actually measuring the ingredients out. When I learned to cook my Great Grandma always told me to make it according to my likings and it kinda stuck.
What you’ll need:
3lbs of ground turkey
1 Green pepper
1 Small onion
1 Jalapeño
Minced garlic
2 packs of McCormick chili seasoning (mild)
1 can crushed tomatoes (28oz)
1 can diced tomatoes (28oz)
1 Chili beans (16oz)
1 cup of water
2 Tbsp of olive oil
Seasonings:
1/2 Tsp Pepper
1 1/2 Tbsp Seasoning salt or salt
1 Tsp Onion powder
1 Tsp Garlic powder
2 Tbsp Chili powder
1/2 Tsp Cayenne pepper
Pinch Ms. Dash extra spicy (optional depends on how spicy you like your chili)
Toppings:
Sour cream
Grated cheese (triple cheddar)
Green onions
Directions:
-
Turn stove on medium / high heat
-
Dice bell pepper, onion, and jalapeño.
-
Pour 2 Tbsp of olive oil in pan and sauté bell pepper, onion, jalapeño, and minced garlic.
-
Place ground turkey in pan and season meat (season to your liking, I like my chili well seasoned). After you have seasoned meat allow time to brown. Be sure to break meat in to smaller pieces while cooking, using a spatula (I use a flat wooden spatula).
-
Once meat is browned transfer into a pot.
-
Turn stove down to medium/ low heat and pour diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, beans, and water into pot. Allow 20-30 mins to cook.
-
Once chili is done use your favorite toppings to add flavor. I love sour cream and cheese.
